I have been collecting 3D media for the last 30 years and have finally decided it's time to part ways with some of my favorite things. One thing I've enjoyed doing over the last many years is rebuilding Stereoviewers for ebay! I've sold well over 200 of these without a complaint!
This is a 1950s bakelite Kodak Kodaslide 2 stereo viewer. It is used for viewing 35mm realist format stereo slides. This lightweight virtually indestructible viewer is the best stereo slide viewer that Kodak ever made and in my opinion one of the best ever! It is getting harder and harder to find working parts for these. The lens housings tend to break the lens gears if used when not lubricated and the rubber cords were never intended to last 70 years and are often cracked and very hazardous to use. If you get one of my viewers I will guarantee EVERYTHING on it will work. If you purchase a viewer from someone else, the chances are not good that it will work 100%...I know because I purchase many of these on ebay and to date, I have never purchased one yet that didn't have problems. Beware!
About the Stereo Viewer:
The Kodaslide 2 has coated achromatic glass lenses (compared to the Kodaslide 1 viewers that have plastic single element lenses) which give an exceptionally clear viewing experience. The condition is excellent as can be seen in my photos - the only flaw being light superficial scratches that are so light, they don't show up in my photos. The viewer works Excellent!  The cords on these are the hardest part to find since the rubber coating is often deteriorated. This cord has never been repaired and has no signs of deterioration!
Even though it looks great on the outside, the insides always need help. I've completely taken it apart, cleaned and checked out everything inside! The bakelite is complete with no cracks! All electrical terminals have been cleaned, checked and work perfect; The lenses have been cleaned and are free of any mold, fungus or mildew; The interocular adjustment has been taken apart, cleaned, lubricated and rebuilt and now works perfectly; The rheostat has been checked and works perfectly - this is the adjustment that makes illumination adjustable for any stereo slide. The focus has been completely taken apart and rebuilt and now works perfectly...This is something that is broken on MOST ALL of these ebay viewers!
Please see my pictures! The second to the last photo shows how far we strip down each viewer when we service and test every part of it as we re-assemble it. This viewer is very handy because it can be used with 2 "D" size batteries, as well as with AC electricity. It is light weight and even when using batteries, it provides ample illumination for any stereo slide. This is a great example of this viewer PLUS it has been serviced and is ready to last another 50 years!
The Original Box:
The original box is solid, sturdy, and does contain all inserts, with just minor wear to the top as can be seen in my photos. Please see ALL of my photos to judge for yourself. The box will keep the viewer in it's great condition and will display well if this is what you want it for.
The Instructional Sheet:
This lot includes a reproduction instruction sheet that is in perfect condition! It contains all the information you need to care for your viewer.
The Stereo Slides:
Also included are 25 Realist format Kodak Kodachrome slides in red bordered cardboard mounts. These mounts are typical of the 1950s and 1960s. The views are amateur 3D photos -  All are viewable and look great in 3D!  Please check out my photos and if you have any questions, please email!

Pictured are the bake-light tops of viewers purchased within the last 12 months on ebay as complete and "working". None of these were, in fact this part of the viewer was the only salvageable part on them.
99% of the viewers I purchase have non-working focus controls.
40% of the viewers I purchase have melted reflectors.
25% of the viewers I purchase have corrosion from leaking batteries.
15% of the viewers I purchase have broken gears on the lens housing which makes the interoccular adjustment not work.
Kodak Kodaslide stereoviewers are my passion! In the past 30 years I have serviced several hundred of them. I have also collected or worked on just about every brand of Realist format stereo slide viewer ever made, and Kodaslides are my favorites! They are not mechanically made perfect and do require occasionally service, but with a little care, no dropping, and if you remove the batteries when not in use, they can probably outlast you! The viewers I sell have all been meticulously taken apart, cleaned, serviced and tested to make sure every thing works perfect before they go on my photo table.
